 POST 244 MINUTES FOR May 2007

The meeting was called to order and opened by Cmdr Joan Alexander at 7:08pm.

The meeting official was suspended to make some Boy Scout Eagle Award Presentations. 

Three scouts from Troop 129 who just made the rank of Eagle were acknowledged by our post.

·  Vincent Colon.

The official post meeting was then reconvened.

 

A role call of all officers of the post was taken and all were present.

Finance report given by Finance Officer Willard Bickel were accepted for audit.

Minutes from the April post meeting were read by Adjutant Billy Worrell and accepted.

Legionnaire Calvin Miller gave a report on the Reading WWII Air Show.

Legionnaire Bob Sassaman gave a report on the Legion Riders.

June 9th there will be tables available at the Mall for fundraising.

 

Nominations were made for post elects to be held at the June post meeting.

 POST 244 MINUTES FOR April 2007

The meeting was called to order by Cmdr Joan Alexander at 7:08p.m.

A role call of all officers of the post was taken and there was no Sr. Vice Cmdr Bradley Fink.

Finance report given by Finance Officer Willard Bickel were accepted for audit

Minutes from the March post meeting were read by Adjutant Billy Worrell and accepted.

Our guest speaker Andy Pahountis the Coatesville Medical Center Director of Community & Congressional Affairs spoke about VA Benefits at the Coatesville MC;

·  At any time there are 380-400 hospitalized Vets who served in Iran, Iraq plus 60 other countries.

·  The Coatesville MC has a need for new/used clothes for men and women, especially winter coats (even now).

·  To obtain VA bene’s the vets must have an honorable discharge or general under honorable conditions to be eligible for tri-care.

·  To date there have been 90 females KIA in Iraq.

·  Three Eagle Boy Scout awards will be given out at the May meeting

·  Nominating Committee will announce a slate of officers at the next meeting

o  Legion card will be required to vote

o  DD form 214 must be on file to hold an office.

·  Post 47 proposed a merge with our post

o  Post #244 voted ‘NO’.

o  An alternative is a JVC facility proposed at Sunnybrook.  Ed Clark and Willard Bickel will follow up and report back to the post.
