Dear Fellow Legionnaires:

 

Lieutenant Colonel (R) Mark Stephen Alexander Sr.

Lieutenant Colonel Mark Alexander was born in Wilmington, Delaware on 13 May 1958. In 1978 he attended Basic Training at Fort Knox Kentucky where he won a ROTC scholarship and upon completion of ROTC at the University of Delaware in 1980 as a Distinguished Military Graduate, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Military Police Corps and awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. His military education includes completion of the Military Police Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Combined Arms Staff Service School and Command and General Staff College. He also attended the U.S. Army Countering Terrorism Course, the United States Air Force Dynamics of International Terrorism Course, the United States Army Drug and Alcohol Team Training Course, the United Sates Army Civil Affairs Officer Basic Course, the United States Army Jungle Warfare School, the United States Army Cold Weather Training Course, the United States Marine Corps Amphibious Landing School, the United States Army Instructor Training Course and the United States Army Observer/Controller Trainer Course.

He has held a wide variety of important command and staff positions culminating in his recent retirement as Chief of Training G3 78th Division Headquarters, Edison, New Jersey.

Other assignments include: Platoon Leader 101st Airborne Division Military Police, Officer in Charge of Military Police Investigations FORSCOM Fort Campbell, KY and Assistant Division Provost Marshal Operations Officer 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, KY, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Provost Marshal Staff Officer and Company Commander and Commander of Troops, TRADOC Fort Monroe Virginia, Assistant MOS Director and S3 2076th USAR School Wilmington, DE, G3 Schools Officer 79th Division, Willow Grove, P A, S2/S3 367th MP Group, Ashley, P A, Staff Officer and S3 358th Civil Affairs Brigade, Norristown, P A, Assistant Director of Training 98th Division, Fort Dix, NJ, Battalion Commander 39pt Logistical Support Battalion 98th Division, Fort Dix, NJ, and Provost Marshall s! Infantry Division, Fort Riley, KS, Professor of Military Science 18t Region ROTC, Drexel University, Philadelphia, P A and Chief of Training G3 78th Division Headquarters, Edison, NJ.

Awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal (with one oak leaf cluster), the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (with one oak leaf cluster), the Army Reserve Achievement Medal (with three oak leaf clusters), the Army Reserve Service Medal, War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.

Mark is the current Commander of American Legion Post 244, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Marine Corps League, the Masonic Shrine Legion of Honor, the Royal Escort of the Green Garter and the Vice President of the Joint Veterans Council of Pottstown.

He is married to Joan former Commander of American Legion Post 244 who is a former Marine and President of the Women's Marine Association PA2. Mark and Joan also own and run A-Z Support Company LLC providing safety and computer consulting and training to surrounding businesses. They have 3 children: Jessica, Amy and Mark Junior.
